Global Environmental Governance (GEG)
The Global Environmental Governance Project, a joint initiative of the College of William and Mary and the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy, aims to facilitate thought and action for strengthening environmental policymaking at the global level. Students and faculty conduct research that is theoretically based, empirically tested, and policy relevant drawing on literature and experts from international relations, organizational management, public policy, and environmental policy. The Project provides a clearinghouse of environmental governance information for scholars, researchers, students, policymakers, and diplomats. It also incorporates the knowledge generated by students at William and Mary and Yale.

Summer Research Program in Washington: Exploring US Environmental Leadership
Washington DC | Summer 2008
|
A team of four William and Mary students worked with Dr. Maria Ivanova in Washington, D.C. during the summer of 2008 to explain the periods of US leadership and withdrawal from global environmental governance over the past forty years. Students engaged in intensive research at the Library of Congress and the National Archives, conducted interviews with key policy figures, and participated in environmental policy events in the Washington area. Linking historical findings to contemporary debates, the team sought to contribute to a platform for meaningful US reengagement in the international environmental debates of the 21st century.
