PLAID Data and Documentation

Unfortunately, the PLAID database is not yet publicly available.

The Bill and Melinda Gates and William and Flora Hewlett foundations have given additional funds that will allow us to expand the current data beyond the original scope of the NSF grant. The end product will be a richer and more inclusive database with a web-based data query system similar to those currently in use by the World Bank, OECD, and Penn World Tables. We expect new database, PLAID 2.0, to become publicly available in 2010. If you would like access beta versions of the PLAID database prior to its public release, we will entertain offers for collaboration or data swaps. Please contact us for details.

Methodology for both the compilation of the PLAID database and individual sector coding is available in the PLAID Codebook (ver. 1.0/1.1).
